Traffic Ramasamy - The Anna Hazare of Chennai

I have been seeing the news channels focusing on Anna Hazare extensively for the past one week and my salute to Anna Hazare as an Indian citizen for the bold initiative he has taken. It still reminds us that what a non violence and non co-operative movement can produce even in this fast paced world.

After watching the ransacking by UK citizens on TV last week, it's very heartening to see we Indians are moving forward with our freedom struggle in such a calm and determined way. Annaji has effectively filled the vaccum of a leader who the educated youth can trust.

At this moment i would also like to write a word or two about Traffic Ramasamy, who is wagging a lone battle against the politicians and other irregularities in Chennai for a very long time.

Traffic Ramasamy is a former mill worker and an active RTI petitioner and social activist. He initially started his social work by regulating the traffic in parrys corner a busy business hub in Chennai. Impressed with his service Chennai traffic police gave him an official id to regulate traffic in Chennai.

He has filed many public litigation's in Chennai high court and many of them has resulted in demolition of illegal building constructions, his litigation played a major part in restricting the movement of the motorized fishing carts.

Lately, he also contested the election as an opponent to former CM kalaignar, even though he did not create any problems for the former CM, his aim was to make people aware who is responsible for the 2g scam.

Now, I believe it's also time to recognize the yeomen service he is rendered to Chennai.

Tamil nadu boy dies on the quest of plucking fruits form a tree in army compound

It was really disturbing to hear and see the news today on TV channels. It flashed that a 13 year old boy was shot and succumbed to his injuries in hospital. What did the boy do? he trespassed into an army area in quest to pluck fruits.

Now the army says they did not fire and the investigations are going on and blame game will begin. Leave aside who shot at the boy, my humble request to the parents in tamil nadu, particularly for labour class is to teach your children to be safe.

The terrible scene I see daily in barnaby road, kilpauk is that many small children play around the road side and crosses the roads without any care. I also see that the parents sit by the side of the road but they hardly seem to tell teach their children to cross the road. What will happen if some bike or car hits the children? You parents will get the compensation, but will you guys get your children back? If you can't take proper care of your children, then better don't give birth to children.

Had if the 13 year old boy's parents have told him never to trespass the army compound he would have not crossed and probably they would have had their child with them.

Please parents teach your children about being safe and help them to be better citizens in future.
