Sivakasi (Tamil Nadu) - The Mini Japan of India

This is my first post on Tamil nadu tourism. So, to keep it simple I want to go with tourism, I will first start it with my hometown Sivakasi. It's located down south of Tamil Nadu. It's in virudhunagar district (Kamarajar the king maker of Indian and Tamil Nadu was born at this place).

So, what's so special with this place? Sivakasi is the only supplier of crackers and matches to all of India. A very busy little town, it's a dry town but it has some wonderful natural places to visit within some 30 KM radius. The famous one is Thani paarai, it's a little water falls at the start of the western ghats, this place particularly has very good climate during the rainy and winter season.

Another scenic place to visit is Ayanar falls, a very scenic beauty of it's own. This place is particularly famous for it's trekking. Then there is courtrallam some 2 hours drive from sivakasi.

People who visit sivakasi, should taste the local food, especially parotta and salna. It's awesome and mouth watering. Combine this with mutton chuka and this going to be one of the heavenly meal you will ever have in your life.
